The YMCA of Greater Charlotte’s Response to COVID-19

For nearly 150 years, the YMCA of Greater Charlotte has had a prominent voice in our community. Their focus on youth development, social responsibility, and healthy living has supported countless people in their efforts to improve the world around them. That being said, the YMCA of Greater Charlotte is in a unique position, as their community is in greater need of support now, yet they have had to temporarily close all 19 of their locations. Because of this predicament, they have channeled their creativity to build new opportunities for community support, social-distancing-style.

On June 3rd, 2020, several local students took the initiative to organize their own protest to have their voices heard on issues of systematic racism and police brutality.
