Operation Gratitude: Donate Excess Halloween Candy to the Troops

Halloween may be over, but that doesn’t mean the trick-or-treating has to stop. Drop off all your extra treats to Iris Home Accents, located in Oak St Mill, 19725 Oak St until November 8th to participate in the national “Operation Gratitude” campaign. Operation Gratitude seeks to put a smile on a service member’s face & express our nation’s appreciation by sending care packages & letters personally addressed to U.S. Military.

Operation Gratitude, a 501(c)(3), non-profit, volunteer-based organization, annually sends 250,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in harm’s way, to their children left behind, to Veterans, to New Recruits, to Emergency First Responders and to Wounded Heroes recuperating in transition units. The organization’s mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a hero’s face and express to the appreciation and support of the American people. Each package contains donated product valued at ~$125 and costs the organization $15 to assemble and ship. For safety and security, assembling of packages occurs at our headquarters in Chatsworth, California. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than 1.5 Million packages.
