DID YOU KNOW? 🤔 With the help of a $1,000 gift DID YOU KNOW? 🤔 With the help of a $1,000 gift from his mother, Hugh Roy Smith began his professional career as a florist. 💐 In 1934 he expanded his operation to build his first greenhouse and opened a landscape business. 🌿 . H.R. Smith was known as the “king of the rhododendrons,” cultivated snapdragons, azeleas and crepe myrtles. He led a “Beautify Cornelius” campaign with then mayor Harold Little in 1976 and planted trees and shrubs along the railroad tracks 🛤and street corners. . The three North Mecklenburg towns: Cornelius, Davidson & Huntersville are hosting the 1st Annual Mayors' Fitness Challenge! 👉One Town will become One Team and compete to win the title of Fittest Community. #OneTownOneTeam 👉The challenge will run 12 weeks, January 31- April 18. 👉Each week towns are working to have the total most active minutes. 👉At the end of the 12 weeks, the Town with the highest average total will be awarded the Fittest Community Trophy. 👉Registration opens Wednesday, January 13. 👉Participants should register under the town where they reside. 👉We encourage you to spread the word and invite, friends, family, co-workers and neighbors. 👉Town kick-off events will be held Sunday, January 31.
